The main objective of the project is to facilitate the modal shift of freight transport from the road to the river:

- By synchronizing data between the various actors in the chain (shippers, carriers, logistics specialists, handlers, ports and terminals, etc.)
- Through a unique and standardized data exchange platform developed in « Software as a Service » (SaaS) mode
- Supplied with tracking data from different sources: Loading unit (pallets, etc.), containers, etc.

It is not a boat tracking system but a complementary tool to the RIS (River Information Service).

ST4W is a project co-funded by the European Union (Interreg Noth-west Europe program) which brings together 12 partners from 5 countries (France, England, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany).
